Terms and Conditions / Privacy Policy

Please ensure that you adhere to the following terms and conditions as a student of Peter Shipway Music. This is for the benefit of both student and teacher, and to ensure that everyone has a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience.

Anyone found not complying to these terms and conditions will risk lessons and teaching being terminated.

  1.  It is your responsibility to ensure you or your child behave in an acceptable manner during the sessions. Any form of behaviour such as abusive, explicit or discriminatory behaviour towards anyone, including other students or teachers, will not be tolerated. This also includes posts in the online community. I reserve the right to terminate all lessons and memberships if I feel behaviour is unacceptable. In such a case, refunds will not be given.

  2.  Safety of everyone involved is of the utmost importance. If you attend a face-to-face session with symptoms of COVID-19, I will refuse your entry to the lesson will not issue a refund in those circumstances. Please keep in regular contact with me about whether anyone in your family is showing symptoms and I can reschedule your session or move it onto Zoom.

  3.  Although most of the students I teach love their lessons, that doesn’t mean everyone will. If at any point you find you are not enjoying your lessons, please get in contact with me to discuss how we can change this. If, at any time, you feel that there is a breach of professional conduct or you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please bring it to my attention by contacting: peter.shipway@gmail.com

  4.  All payments must be received in advance of the lesson.

  5.  If you wish to record your lesson, please make sure you ask me first. Recording is encouraged as it allows you to look back on and reflect on your lesson, and Zoom permissions will be switched on for you to record the session. However, any recordings made without the full knowledge and consent of everyone in the room/participating in the session may result in the termination of all future lessons.

RESCHEDULING/CANCELLATION POLICIES

  1. If you need to cancel your lesson, I require strictly 24 hours notice to reschedule any one-to-one sessions, otherwise the full fee is payable. Please contact me directly (via email or phone) to reschedule. Your Zoom link from your original session will likely be carried over to your rescheduled session, so please do not delete it!

  2. In the unlikely event that I need to reschedule (due to illness or other work), I will notify you at the earliest possible time and reschedule your lesson. If 24 hours notice is not possible you will be given the choice between a full refund and rescheduling your lesson.

  3. For online sessions I will wait for 15 minutes for you to join the Zoom meeting. If you have not joined the lesson after this time, I will end the lesson and no refund will be given. Please be aware your lesson may be cut short if you are late so as not to interrupt other students.

  4. Woodwind students, if you are ill with something that drastically affects your breathing or throat (NOT including asthma, I am asthmatic myself), please be sensible about whether it is a good idea to play or not, as you can cause yourself more pain than it is worth. Please contact me (Peter) if this is the case, and we can discuss your options or reschedule your lesson.
